Bookouture – feedback opportunity

Editorial feedback: entry guidelines

WHAT TO SEND US
We are happy to receive up to 10k words from each writer. In addition to this, we are happy to look at a one-page publisher or agent pitch, and a one-page synopsis. The 10k words can be the first few chapters of a full-length manuscript, or could be a short story. We do not expect manuscripts to be completed for us to provide feedback.

WHAT WE ACCEPT?
We accept all genres of fiction for the adult market, and YA. Commercial genre fiction is especially welcome – we specialise in publishing crime thrillers (psychological thrillers, police procedurals, cosy crime), women’s fiction, romance, and historical fiction. We also accept narrative non-fiction.
Unfortunately we can’t provide feedback on children’s books, poetry, cookery books, manuals or gift books.

WHAT TYPE OF FEEDBACK WILL I RECEIVE?
The type of feedback you receive will vary but the things our editors might comment on include: the strength of the opening of your novel; the structure and plot of your story; the voice; characterisation; and dialogue.
We can accept your writing from 17 June – 7 July. Please submit your work to Farhana, who will send it Bookouture. Each submission will be assigned to an editor, and you will receive feedback in the form of a short editorial letter by 19 July.
